What is a parent committee?

A parent committee is a group made up of parents of children attending a childcare service, whose main role is to represent families, make their voices heard, and collaborate with management to improve the children’s environment.

It is a space for exchange where parents can share their ideas, concerns, or suggestions, participate in organizing activities, and actively contribute to the quality of services offered. It is also a wonderful opportunity to get involved in their child’s educational community.

Why a Consultative Parent Committee?

The parent committee plays a key role in the life of the daycare. It allows families to actively participate in discussions affecting the well-being, development, and environment of their child. The parent committee operates with openness and kindness. Each meeting is an opportunity to share ideas, exchange perspectives, and collaboratively find solutions, always with the goal of improving the daily experiences of the children. All parents are welcomed with respect, and no prior experience is required — the only requirement is a willingness to contribute positively.

Meetings are held approximately four times a year, depending on members’ availability. They take place in a friendly and flexible format, either in person or via video conference, and typically last about one hour. This accessible approach allows everyone to get involved at their own pace, in a warm and constructive environment.

Who Can Participate?

Any parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the daycare is welcome to join the committee. No prior experience is required — only an open mind, a willingness to get involved, and a desire to contribute positively to our community.
